Davis Island Dog Beach = Polluted Water

The dog beach at Davis Island in Tamps, Fl came highly recommended by various online sites to my girlfriend and I. Personally I haven't been to many dog beaches, but I have a feeling that there are better beaches then this one.

The dog beach at Davis Island was right near a ship yard for big commercial and industrial ships to dock. As you can imagine because of the purpose of how these waters were being used, the water at the beach was highly polluted. After coming home and drying off from being in the water I felt like I was in a sewer for the past hour or so that I was there. The beach itself was small and non-conducive for dog owners to lay out or relax while at the beach. The only positive was the beach was fenced in, so the risk of my dog running far off was taken care off. Overall this beach seemed like an afterthought by whomever the developer was that built the boat dock there, a kind of "hmmmm, i got some extra space to use up, lets put a dog beach here."

Aside from the environment I was in, I had a good time hanging out with my puppy and my girl. I was actually able to successfully get my dog into the water, which is a huge step for her considering she wont go near a swimming pool and runs away from baths.
